James Spillman is a Screenwriter, Creative Director & VFX Supervisor.
His most recent short was optioned to Oscar winning director Chris Overton with award winning actors Stephen Wight & Rachel Shenton starring. After much interest he is now working hard writing the feature version.
Along with this James’ scripts have placed highly in top screenwriting competitions and he is collaborating with multiple producers on original and pre-existing script ideas whilst also pitching shows to various streaming networks.
Coming from a working class background James likes to write about the everyday struggles, creating characters we all know and placing them in extraordinary situations, combining genres to create unique but grounded dramatic worlds and narratives.
As well as being a writer James is a very experienced VFX Supervisor and Creative Director with nearly two decades of experience in the industry working with brands such as Nike, Guinness and MTV. His work has won multiple awards and has been seen by millions of people.
He was accepted into the Unreal Fellowship Programme on Virtual Production, one of only a few out of nearly ten thousand applicants worldwide, where he learned techniques that will sculpt the future of TV and Film Production and no doubt influence his writing and directing.
This mix of disciplines strengthens not only his writing but also his ability to market his work. James’ treatments are unique and he has worked with multiple studios creating pitches and moodboards to attract funding and talent to projects with his work read by stars such as Andrew Scott and Kit Harrington.
Ultimately James likes to tell stories and make things, he is open to every form of collaboration and always strives to create the best script/film possible.
